Stay tuned for more information on how you can fully unlock your creative potential and embark on an exciting journey of design exploration in December.

Advanced Grasshopper 2.0: Integrating Voxel and Mesh Modelling Approaches

This workshop will comprehensively explore several modeling methods in Grasshopper. First, we will go through the data structure in Grasshopper as it is the fundamental need for our next steps. Then, we will explore the use of mathematical operations and equations in Grasshopper. At this stage, we will practice modeling foldable surfaces and structures as they are well-related to mathematic operations. Physics and force simulation is the next part of this workshop, in which examples of tensile and minimal surfaces will be provided. Mesh-based modeling plugins and strategies will be covered to design complex geometries and morphing surface patterns. The other part of our workshop will focus in-depth on the voxel-based model and its integration. Students will work individually on their projects.

EcoFusion: Robotic Manufacturing

This workshop will focus on designing architectural components such as facade panels, columns, and structural components. Participants must have advanced knowledge of Rhino and basic knowledge of Grasshopper. The workshop will introduce the KUKA PRC Grasshopper plugin to simulate and operate the KUKA robotic arms directly. This workshop will cover three primary topics within digital design and robotics fabrication:

Natural Material Hybrids: We will discuss the ecology and behavior of natural materials, their structural properties, and their influence on robotics and digital fabrication.

Multi-materiality: We will discuss the transitional phase that requires us to hybridize naturally with synthetic materials in a component-based architecture and its aesthetic implications on design and functionality.

3D Resolution through Fabrication: We will explore the role of tool pathing as a design methodology, enhancing the autonomy of digital fabrication tools, particularly robotics.
